How can you not like bullfrogs, I mean, just look at that face! Came across this bullfrog nestled against the rocks, perhaps exploring the area as a potential hibernation spot. American bullfrogs usually hibernate underwater, and they survive the winter in oxygen-rich water on top the mud or perhaps just a little buried. Their metabolism slows down drastically so it can make it through the winter using its body’s stored energy, and they receive the oxygen needed through their skin while hibernating (Source: Scientific American). Nature is a wonder.
