The Mating Dance

Back in early May this Sandhill Crane pair brought into the world a couple of beautiful colts, and I was fortunate to spend a few days with them before they meandered off across the fields to somewhere else. Didn’t see them for about 3 weeks, and then one day I saw them again on the hill, but without their colts. I’m assuming they lost them, most likely to predation. But hope springs eternal. This day was quite blustery, and as they were walking through the grasses up the hill, the male broke into his mating dance and was able to catch a few frames.
