Juvenile Goldfinch

A male American Goldfinch flew out of some pine trees north of me directly south to a group of sunflowers, and while in flight a small bird came out of the meadow and flew right by its side and landed with the male on a sunflower. It then reached out to the male with its beak as if looking for some grub. It dawned on me that this was most likely a recently fledged goldfinch, and it was just wanting some more food from its daddy. After getting a couple of seeds from daddy, it landed on a recently picked-apart flower (probably by its daddy!) and it provided a couple of poses before it flew off in search of some more food. Godspeed little one, and hope to see you next year!
