    In this part of the Midwest we mostly have ruby-throated hummingbirds; there is an occasional Rufous, but we've yet to have one visit. Still, we thoroughly enjoy our RTH friends during the spring and summer, especially the males as they show off their beautiful ruby throats . . .

    The flowers are in full bloom, and slowly but surely a few visitors of the hovering kind pay a visit. As we move into August, the pace of the visits will pick up as they have finished with the young ones and will start preparing for their own great migration.
