Turner’s Tomatoes

This is titled “Turner’s Tomatoes” – Homegrown tomatoes are one of those small but wonderful joys of life. Turner had a large farm in Boone County, Missouri many moons ago, and it’s been said he grew the best tomatoes in the county; although we didn’t sample every tomato in the county, his were definitely the tastiest of all tomatoes, so we believe this to be true. It’s the late August to early September timeframe when the homegrown tomatoes are coming fast and furious, so you gotta start pickin’ them a little early and then let the red goodness ripen on a ledge or a sill. One day while walking around to the back of his house, I saw these beautiful tomatoes that Turner had picked and placed on the sill of the screened-in porch to ripen to maximum tastiness. Yum.
