This is Thanksgiving day here in the US, and I'm thankful for family, both 2-legged and 4-legged, and I'm thankful for all of the wild places, the wild birds, the wild animals, and grateful for past journeys and experiences and for those to come . . .

That's quite a wingspan you have there juvie, and a nice catch!!

The window of afternoon sun was small, but this beauty flew at the right time into the right place (thank you!) which allowed for a beautifully lit capture of our national symbol . . .

A juvenile eagle comes in low and slow above the cold, still waters of the river to grab a shad with those beautiful talons . . .

Although it came up empty-taloned on this try from the frozen river, the next attempt was successful and it enjoyed a nice little shad snack in the bitter cold . . .

"Um, excuse me, are you gonna eat all that?!"
