Early Bloomers

We had some unusually warm weather (80+ F) for early April here this week, so just in case it triggered a few early bloomers, headed out to a local forest preserve to check it out. Sure enough, poking up through the forest floor were some Liverwort, Bloodroot and Cuckoo Flowers. On one bunch of Cuckoo Flowers were several Mason Bees doing some early gathering. Also saw lots of Prairie Trillium bursting out all over. Of course, now it’s rainy and cloudy and back in the 50s, typical Illinois. The flower posts are in the order named above.
